WHAT ARE ALL OF THE WAYS THAT - WHILE WE HAVE A RETHINK ABOUT OUR POWER SOURCES - WE CAN START TO SUPPORT THE WORLD AROUND US MORE?

I go into much greater detail about the practicalities of wildscaping our homes, organisations and communities in Chapter Ten - living in much greater harmony - but here are a list of ideas as tasters...

Eg. We use electricity from solar farms.  Trees cannot grow on solar farms.  Do we have land that trees can grow on instead?

Eg. Bats and birds are finding wind turbine farms perilous.  Can we install bat and bird bricks into our properties to provide alternative habitat?

Eg. When oil is drilled for it obliterates local habitats.  Can we make up that habitat elsewhere, permanently and with ongoing protection?

Eg. When electrical components are mined for, miles of habitats are obliterated.  Can we make up that habitat elsewhere, permanently and with ongoing protection?

 

Eg. Our roads are very dangerous for a lot of wildlife: can we invest in wildlife tunnels and bridges to allow wildlife to traverse the landscape without risk of road

injury?

Eg. Water sources are difficult to come by - can we leave out water bowls for our wildlife?

Eg. Human litter causes injury and even death to my local wildlife - can I not only cut down on any waste that I produce but also join litter picking session and then help to upcycle/recycle any litter that can be repurposed?

Eg. Can I let the spider live in my house?  Maybe it isn’t too big after all?

Eg. Can I unite members of my community to buy a patch of land that is left to be populated by self seeded botanicals and local wildlife, resisting any pressures from local residents to use poisons or pesticides to ‘tidy up the space’ or exert ‘pest control’?

Eg. Can I join campaign groups to stop councils using pesticides in my local area?

Eg. Can I fund talks by local Wildlife Rescues to help educate my community on how to best live with and support our wildlife?

 

Eg. Can I help to set up, support and fund a local homeless shelter?

Eg. Can I invest in upcycling companies?

Eg. Can I sponsor a Dormouse?  PTES.org
